Street Photography
Finding life in an empty factory. This series was shot at the old abandoned Dunlop factory in Sydney’s Alexandria using Ilford black and white 35mm film. I chose a high ISO film specifically to get a heavy, gritty grain that matched the grunge street feel of the location. The space was fascinating to explore because even though it was abandoned, it felt alive with ever-evolving street art and nature slowly reclaiming the concrete.
The process didn’t stop at the shutter click. Using the darkroom facilities at the College of Fine Arts at UNSW, I developed the film myself and hand-printed the final images on Ilford photographic cotton paper. It was a great reminder of how satisfying it is to take a project from raw material to a finished, physical product.
